Rerouting The Moon

Black On Both Sides Episode #123 Kunta wants to wish everyone a Happy Pride. Is it okay to take off major sporting events if your job is major sporting events? I can’t call in sick on a day that my company has it’s most important meeting with the most important clients. It is understood that even if I am not present for any other day, I will be there for that day. These new millennial athletes are determined to be the softest group of people that have ever walked the rock. Kyrie has missed many days for a mystery illness. Now Naomi Osaka has called in sick to a major tournament. Good luck with that career. Good luck with those endorsements. Speaking of sports, can Tiffany Haddish play FloJo? I will just leave that there. Louie Gohmer wants to end the world. So he asks if there is anything we can do to modify the moon’s orbit. I have no idea how these people get elected. Gladly, there is little we can do to affect the moon and it’s orbit. But just the fact that someone is out there considering it is wild. Turns out Trump wasn’t such a good guy after all. He was secretly using the DOJ to subpoena Apple call and text logs from his enemies’ phones. Surprisingly, Apple gave him metadata. I though Apple was the secure company. Israel may be seeing new leadership soon. And Biden says America is back…but only French concurred. Black On Both Sides Episode #122 We lost a legend. Paul Mooney passed on and took a wealth of comedy with him. Not enough is usually said about people until they are gone. Kunta used this opportunity to call him the comedy Little Richard. Meanwhile Verzuz may be hitting a wall. They plan to have Swizz and Timbo back on…again. Soulja Boy and Bow Wow can’t work out the deal. So that probably won’t happen. And comedians are now taking to the beef battle model and setting up Comedy verzuz. Did you know there was an uptick in Jewish hate crimes? Apparently, there is. How does anyone hate anyone in this new world of inclusion and gender neutrality? You can literally identify as an albino frog larvae and people have to accept it. But people won’t accept races? According to 35 Senators, January 6th didn’t happen. Nothing to see here…move along. Remember that day when a large group of right-wing enthusiasts stormed the Capitol building and threatened to hang some of the politicians in the name of saving the country? Many Senators do not. It is as if that day never existed. And because of that, there will be no probe into the events of that day. Texas wants you to keep your baby. They will enforce a no-abortion law after 6 weeks of pregnancy. To offset all of the new lives, they have also instated an open carry without a license law. It offsets, trust me. Trust Me, I’m Vaccinated

Trust Me, I’m Vaccinated

Black On Both Sides Episode #121 Let’s just say that you are out in the world and see someone without a mask. They come into close proximity with you and begin to try and communicate. Do you A. Hold up a hand and walk away? B. Talk as if everything is 2019? or C. Ask them where their damn mask is? Let’s just say you chose C. They tell you that it is okay because they have been fully vaccinated and the CDC says it is okay to go maskless. I know what you are thinking… How do you know if they are telling the truth? Well that my friends is why I am never wearing a mask again. Who would know if I am vaccinated or not? Now we have to just trust people? No worries, who would lie about that??? This would not be a Kunta podcast if we didn’t talk about his Laker favorite and kindred spirit, Kobe Bryant. Kobe was inducted into the Hall Of Fame. At least that is what Kunta thinks. He hasn’t actually had the nerve or ability to watch the speech given by his late wife. KG and Tim Duncan accompany him this time. Congrats on the red jackets! If you spent any time on the east coast this last week, you were probably walking. Russian hackers cut off the pipeline and the east coast gas stations suffered. Just like the toilet paper bandits did during COVID, the gas station bandits did it last week. People were using anything they could get their hands on the get the last drop of gas before anyone else could. Tupperware, trash cans, and even trash ...

Black On Both Sides Episode #120 We send out a RIP to musician, artist, producer, influencer Shock G of Digital Underground. A person who musically didn’t get the recognition deserved to him. But someone that will not be forgotten. Meanwhile, DMX has a funeral and the earth stands still. Maybe a little bit lopsided. But hey, rest to both of them, nonetheless. Vanessa Bryant may be single-handedly destroying the Kobe legacy by not coming to terms with Nike and their proposed future for the brand. Shouldn’t this be bigger than her? Is this about money? Candace Owens continues to stay relevant by saying that the Chauvin trial was not justice but instead a testament to how the country is controlled by mob rule. Mob rule may have had something to do with 3 guilty verdicts coming back…but clearly she didn’t watch the video. Surrounding the Chauvin trial, there were two police events that made the news. Dautne Wright and Makhia Bryant. Both of which resulted in the black person dying at the hands of police. The timing couldn’t be worse, but these two incidents are very different in my eyes. Are we headed for a new day in police oversight? Or is this a detour before we go back to business as usual? 45 mass shootings last month. Is it time to crack down on guns in this country? I am not so sure. Kunta makes great points about magazine capacity and need for assault rifles. I however, still feel the need to have for protection. This is more than likely going to be the theme for a few shows this year on BOBS. But here is where it always falls down. ...

X The Past

X The Past

Black On Both Sides Episode #119 Question of the day…Who is your favorite CrackHead? I know. It sounds hateful. It sounds dismissive. But if you had to pick one, who would it be? Many people would say Tyrone Biggums. Some would say their uncle. A couple would say the guy I knew that used to have a fully mobile (He walked to you) car wash in the hood. Wait! We all know and love one person that had his difficulties with the pipe. Arf Arf! Meanwhile, they are trying to cancel the man before his bones even dry out. When are we going to get tired of judging people’s mid 90’s stances by today’s standards? This just can’t be done. Especially since he isn’t here to defend his possible evolution. Let the negative things stay in the past. Who won the Isley and Earth Verzuz? Not sure, but Kunta said that there was no deep Fake of Ronald Isley. I am not so sure as I know that man looked different in the 80s. Sadly, they released a new song on the backs of their newfound attention. I’m not saying I don’t like it. I’m just saying it isn’t good. Speaking of deep fakes, who told Kid Cudi to run out on stage in a dress and cosmetic jewelry? These kids and their rock ‘n roll. If you have been following the Chauvin trial, yeah most of us are not. It is too easy to just watch the highlights. It seems that there is a mixed feeling about who is winning so far. Nonetheless, we are bracing for a result that will hurt our hearts. It ...

Let The Voters Have Their Water

Black On Both Sides Episode #118 Inquiring mind (mine) wants to know whether or not a person that can’t pay for brunch should get to choose where brunch happens. I say no. Kunta lets his kids pick the brunch spot. As you would expect for non-paying people, it didn’t go well. Tokyo and brunch don’t go together. Versuz coming is old school and didn’t finish school. I am here for the Isley v. Earth Wind and Fire. But someone needs to tell Xscape that they didn’t have enough hits to verse anyone. Is this more about nostalgia, or are we still doing this in battle format? Kunta wants to tell you guys about the Black political issues that Marvel is working into their new series. I for one don’t need politics with my nerd stuff. I don’t really have a say since I will not be watching any of the episodes. How long do we call something a conspiracy theory after a high level official says it is true? The CDC guy says that a Wuhan lab is the creator and publisher of the virus. Is that not enough to go on? Or do we not trust high level CDC guys anymore? If you have been a listener to our show for a while, you know that Kunta considers any voter issues to be the highest order of criminality in government. Well, my home state is trying to send what Kunta calls the country into Jim Crow 2.0. For instance, handing someone a water in line is a criminal offense. Now I am not sure that the new voter laws are quite enough to be considered Jim Crow, however, they are serious. ...
